Jadelyn's Story: Divorce & Healing

We all have a story, big or small. In this post, Jadelyn shares a few thoughts of her experience with divorce when she was younger, how she dealt with it, and the learning experience that she took away from it during a time that was confusing and hard to process. Can you relate?

“Growing up in a divorced family was not fun. There was lots of arguing, heart break, hardship, and pain. All I desired was to be with my parents and my brother and not have to deal with all of the consequences of divorce. I wanted a normal family.

Later on, I experienced another re-marriage and divorce in my family, again. At this point, it was hard for me to understand if marriage was something that was meant to last or not.

The beautiful thing of it all is that God restores and heals. I now have an amazing step mom and step brother (from a third family re-marriage), and my relationship with my parents is good and continues to grow.

God continues to show me and remind me that the choices I make are my own decisions. I have the choice to choose marriage and to make it last with the help, strength, and power of God. I have the choice to grow and develop the relationships in my family. My life can be what I make it to be; and as I continue to follow Christ and His beautiful plan for my life, I believe that He will make my paths straight.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭
